“Wisdom From Above” (Jas. 3:17)

“Wisdom From Above” (Jas. 3:17)

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

I. Smart? (1 Cor. 6:1) When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints?

  A. Law And Order…Ex. 18:13-27 (Jethro advises Moses to appoint judges); Num. 35:9-34 (cities of refuge)

  B. Suspicion…Deut. 21:1-9 (how to handle unsolved murder); Num. 5:11-31(law of jealousy/adultery)

  C. Winning By Losing? 1 Cor. 6:1-10 (brothers taking brothers to court)

II. On Purpose (1 Cor. 1:26) For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards,] not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.

  A. “The Mind Of Christ”…1 Cor. 2:16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

    1. “Emptied?” Phil. 2:1-11 (Yahshua’s humility, emptied himself becoming a servant)

    2. What’s The Message…Jn. 1:35-51 (Yahshua finding his apostles); Lk. 22:28-30 (you have stuck w/me in my trials, will be in kingdom judging 12 tribes)

  B. By Design…Matt. 7:7-11 (ask, seek, knock, father in heaven will give good gifts to those who ask); Prov. 2:1-22 (benefits of wisdom); Deut. 30:11-20 (this commandment not too hard or far away, set life and death before you, choose life loving Yah); Mk. 4:10-20 (why parables, sower and different seeds)

III. No Secret (Deut. 2:7) For Yahweh your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He knows your going through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”’

  A. Long Enough? 1 Sam. 13:1-14 (Saul didn’t wait for Samuel but offered sacrifice); Deut. 2:1-7 (traveled around Mt. Seir belonged to Esau, buy food from them, these 40 years Yah has blessed you)

  B. “Remember The Whole Way”…Deut. 8:1-6 (remember the whole way Yah had led you, to humble you, to teach you man doesn’t live on bread alone but words from Yah)

    1. The Blessing…Deut. 8:7-10 (Yah bringing you to a good land, you will not lack); 28:1-14 (benefits of obeying Yah)

    2. Malediction…Deut. 28:15-68 (consequences for disobedience)

  C. No Doubting…Jas. 1:5, 6 (If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.)
